Individual Therapy

With Dr. Katie Meier, Psy.D.

My belief is that you do the hard work—I’m here to support and guide you along the way. You are the expert on yourself and likely already know, even at a deeper level, where you want to go. I help you move toward that place with clarity and intention.

I practice psychotherapy from a cognitive-behavioral perspective, incorporating Anti-Diet and Health at Every Size® principles when appropriate.

We may be a good fit for therapy if you:

  • Experience difficulty coping with past experiences

  • Struggle with family relationships and boundaries

  • Find yourself skipping meals or overeating

  • Experience chronic pain or chronic health issues

  • Have difficulty identifying and expressing your feelings

  • Feel like you can’t control yourself around food

  • Often feel nervous, anxious, or worried

  • Are struggling in romantic relationships

  • Struggle with body-image

  • Lose sleep due to overthinking

  • Are considering a significant life change (e.g. career change, marriage, or divorce)

  • Have difficulty communicating with others

How it works:

We begin therapy as strangers, and over time, build a genuine relationship that becomes the foundation for meaningful, lasting change. This relationship will, of course, include moments of sarcasm and humor, as I bring my full personality into our work together.

Areas of clinical focus include:

  • anxiety disorders

  • trauma

  • binge eating disorder

  • ages 18 and up

If any of these resonate with you, we may work well together.

Fees

  • BlueCross BlueShield and Aetna are accepted.

  • Self-pay rate is $250 for intake session and $225 for individual sessions that are approximately 50 minutes in length.

Under the No Surprises Act, health care providers are required to provide individuals who are uninsured or who choose not to use their health insurance with a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges for medical services. A Good Faith Estimate will be provided to individuals who are uninsured or not using health insurance before treatment begins.

In an effort to offer equitable access to services, reduced fee sessions are available.
